Welcome to the Art Room
The mission of the St. Aloysius Fine Arts Program is to inspire students to develop their God-given talents and establish a life long appreciation of the arts by providing a comprehensive art program integrated across the curriculum. We strive to foster creativity, imagination, and artistic self-expression by providing students with hands on activities in visual arts.
Our program includes the study of aesthetics, history, cultural arts, critique, art production, and technology. Students learn about art and artistic processes by observing, discussing, producing and critiquing works of art. It is our goal that every student reaches his/her full potential while gaining a better understanding of self, society, history and cultures past and present.
Studies show that participation in the arts leads to higher academic success. The arts improve cognitive abilities used in academic areas such as math, reading and science. Students who participate in the arts score up to 10 percent higher on the SATs. Also, students who are involved in the arts are more committed to school in general and that work ethic carries over when they go to college.
